Writer of

My name is Beth Simone. I’m a fiction writer living in New South Wales, Australia. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Writing & Publishing in November 2023 through off-campus study at Curtin University. To put this degree to good use, I’m also a freelance copyeditor for my fellow writers of fiction.

Commencing February 2024, I have been studying my Master’s degree in Creative Writing through off-campus study at Macquarie University. My study for this degree will be completed in mid-2027.

My writing pursuits

The fantasy sub-genres I like to experiment with are epic/high, sword & sorcery, paranormal, magic realism, supernatural, mythological, and dark. Part of my writing style involves considering new ways to bend the rules of and subvert the fantasy genre.

If you’d like to read some samples of my writing, you can find these in Writing Journal. Check back often as I aim to publish more of my short stories here. I also keep track of my stories that have been accepted by publishers, under Published Works.

Aside from writing prose, poetry holds a special place in my life. I believe it is the language of the heart — an act of catharsis and a way of growing in self-awareness. I like writing free form or structuring stanzas in my own unique way, usually using such poetic techniques as rhyme, alliteration, and metaphor, all while being in-tune with the musicality of language. Some of my favourites include such classics as Edgar Allan Poe and Geoffrey Chaucer and such modern-day poets as Atticus and Nikita Gill. I hope to one day publish my very own collection of poetry, but for now, poetry remains a private medium through which I express my innermost feelings and explore my most intricate experiences / personal transformations.
